Study Programmes

Starting from the academic year 2017/18, students at the University of Graz can enroll in a Master Programme for “Digital Humanities” as the first (and currently only) location in Austria.

The only  prerequisite is a completed bachelor's degree in the humanities or cultural sciences. In addition to basic theoretical and methodological knowledge, students also gain practical experience in the scientific application of modern ICT technologies and digital methods on research questions in the Humanities.

Moreover, even within the Bachelor programmes of the Humanities’ faculty at the University of Graz, the Supplementary Subject "Information Modeling in the Humanities", which can be studied as a Restricted Elective Subject in almost all Humanities Bachelor's degree programs, offers students the opportunity to establish a profile in the area of New Media and the ICT-based enrichment and processing of the humanities' research content, which is currently in high demand on the labor market in the field of education and cultural institutions.

After the successful completion of either of these programmes, students receive a dedicated Certificate.

In principle, the Institute's courses are open to students of all fields of study (subject to the availability of participants' places) and can be taken as Free Elective Courses.
